This is pretty much how I start my day. When I eat this much for breakfast, I don’t find myself getting hungry before lunch. I guarantee you won’t miss the sugar, brown sugar or maple syrup on top with this combination of fruit.
½ cup old fashion oats
1 cup water
2 heaping teaspoons ground flaxseeds
1 T. dried cranberries
1 T. dried cherries
¼ cup fresh raspberries
¼ cup fresh blueberries
1 T. sliced almonds
Penzeys Spices California orange peel
Cinnamon (optional)
Using a microwaveable bowl, add oats, flaxseed, dried cranberries, dried cherries and cinnamon if using. Stir well and add the water. Place in microwave for 3 minutes on High.
Remove from microwave and top with raspberries, blueberries, sliced almonds and a light sprinkle of the orange peel.
Pour your favorite non dairy milk (my preference is Almond Breeze Unsweetened Original or Vanilla milk) on top and enjoy!
